故事起源于一条人人网状态：一位文艺小清新感慨夏目漱石的含蓄风雅，将其翻译轶事发到网上，没想到却成为网友们造句吐槽的开端。夏目漱石是日本近代作家，对东西方文学均有很高造诣。日本人的含蓄一直闻名于世，在夏目漱石生活的明治时期，日本人推崇的感情是谦恭谨慎的，在爱人面前，不惟女性说不出“我爱你”，就连男性也不会直抒心意，文学作品中当然也没有直白的情爱表达。夏目漱石深谙国民性格，同时也是一名风雅之士，他将“I Love You”翻译成“今夜月色很好”是再自然不过的事。
谁也没想到，这么一件雅事，居然被网友的神回复赋予了笑点。段子手“学长只能帮你到这了”领会翻译精神，“含蓄”地开涮迪宏恋：“李云迪有一次让刘谦翻译“I Love You”，刘谦翻译成我爱你。李云迪说，我怎么可能讲这样的话，‘找力宏’就充足了。” 大批网友跟风造句，新版本络绎不绝。史上最火娘娘甄嬛、热播剧新版《笑傲江湖》中的令狐冲、陈乔恩饰演的东方不败都成为恶搞对象。同时躺枪的还有张爱玲、唐僧、韦小宝、楚留香等各路人马。
网络时期娱乐至上，风雅之事变成吐槽狂欢也没啥大不了。不过，网友们若是明白夏目漱石的前辈、日本闻名翻译家二叶亭四迷在翻译俄国小说《阿霞》时，挖空心思将女主角的告白翻译成了“我……就算死也甘愿了啊”，大约更有跟风造句的兴致吧。
