As to whether it is worthwhile giving attention to spelling in English learning, there is a long-running controversial debate. It’s quite natural that people from different backgrounds may have divergent attitudes towards it.

For one thing, they are of the opinion that spelling is a basic skill and correct spelling can make a great contribution to our English learning, especially to remember words.
