UK actress Daisy Ridley, 25, won audiences over with her role as a woman who discovers that she has superpowers. Now, in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth episode in the Star Wars movies, Ridley will continue to take on more challenges and explore her identity. The movie will be released in Chinese mainland cinemas on Jan 5.

To land this hot role, Ridley took part in five auditions over a period of seven months, often doubting whether she would get the part. “I didn’t feel that I had been doing a good job during the auditions, but at some point I had the feeling that I might be in the running but I didn’t want to let myself get my hopes up,” she told Viva Press.
为了拿下（蕾伊）这一热门角色，雷德利在7个月中参加了5次试镜，并常常怀疑自己是否能拿到这个角色。“我并不觉得自己在试镜中表现得有多么出色，但有时我又觉得自己可能在候选人之列，但我并不想让自己抱太大希望，”她在接受《Viva Press》杂志采访时表示。
Despite her strong wish to star in the traditionally male-dominated Star Wars movies, Ridley wasn’t a big fan of the movie series until she played the heroine. “I remember seeing Episode III in the cinema and ever since, Star Wars has been a part of my subconscious,” the British actress told Viva Press. “Growing up, I was always aware of the mythology surrounding Star Wars because it’s such a pop-culture phenomenon.”
尽管雷德利强烈地希望自己能主演一向由男性占主导地位的“星战”系列电影，但她在出演女主角之前都不是该系列的粉丝。“我记得在电影院里看了第三部电影，从那以后，‘星战’系列就成了我潜意识的一部分，”这位英国女演员在接受《Viva Press》杂志采访时表示。“在成长过程中，我总会注意到和‘星战’相关的虚构世界，因为它是一个现象级的流行文化。”
